Cluster
Flies
Urban Pest Control has the solution.
Since 1987 we have successfully treated
hundreds of homes as well as such diverse structures as churches, schools,
museum buildings, country inns, offices and farm buildings.
The only proven chemical treatment for
cluster flies is carried out with a residual insecticide called permethrin.
Permethrin has a low toxicity rating for people and animals but is highly
effective against a wide variety of insects and also spiders. One
formulation of it called Nix is currently used for the treatment of head
lice on adults and children and another is used as a dog and cat flea
shampoo. Although it has a residual activity, it does not stain or damage
building surfaces.
The procedure involves treating the
outside of the house, concentrating on areas where the flies enter. As well,
attics if present are fogged as part of the treatment. Permethrin has proven
to be very effective in the elimination and prevention of cluster fly
infestations. As well, it is effective against spiders and also paper wasps
whose overwintering habits are similar to cluster flies.
